May 8, 2010 – Working to find work, Part 4

As a test on my eBlasts (email promos), I’ve sent them to my past teachers, Harvey Chan and Blair Drawson to get their opinions on them, along with asking for art reps advice.  Harvey thought that my work and promo looked great but I would do even better if I were to slim myself into a single style rather than showing 2 to 3 styles of my work.  I’ve looked up more about that on Google searches.  Most webpages had said that art reps would identify an artist by their works, their unique style of interpreting any subject, especially in the case that both reps and artists would see each other face to face rarely.

Imagine if Coke or Pepsi, aside from being international soda drinks but are also identify as medicine, fabric dye and household plants fertilizer. If your works’ aesthetics got too diverse, even by a couple of styles, your rep wouldn’t know how to advertise you as what.

In that sense, I’m going to be removing my older works that were done in class back in OCAD.  As nice as they are, I need to show a more polished and focused style that I want to build a reputation on.
